In the article “GPS Insight Can Meet ‘Out-of-the-Box’ Requirements”, it introduces the functionality, features, and benefits of GPS Insight, which primarily provides “asset and vehicle tracking solutions”. The main function of GPS Insight is to retrieve and relay back data collected to the user for analysis, all while happening in real time. The article also stated that the features of GPS Insight are “configurable and customizable” according to the user’s requirements and preferences. To be able to meet user’s ever-changing demands and requests, GPS Insight introduces new features based on user’s response and feedback. Due to GPS Insight’s customizability, it is able to perform at different degrees of comprehensiveness, making it a versatile product.
After reading the article, I would agree to a large extend that GPS can meet ‘Out-of-the-Box’ requirements. GPS Insight collect data real time so users could plan their route without having to wait. Also due to the fast growing pace of this world. It is able to perform at different degrees of comprehensiveness. Therefore, having GPS Insight. Users would experience a smooth journey in finding their way to their destination.
In an article on "The Evolution of Telematics" (February 2011, by Lauren Fletcher and Grace Suizo)  mention about the usage of GPS in their product called "MARCUS Fleet Tracking solution" . This tracking solution is being used to do collect productiveness and usefulness data while cutting down on fuel and other costs. It also reduces the time of vehicle not moving. The tracking solution also use GPS in real time. It allows users to access from either their computer,  smartphone or any web accessible devices. Which will keep users updated at a fast speed with the results they wanted. This is to keep up with the times as everyone nowadays have at least a smartphone with them.
One of the example that this product could do is to be able to notify users by sending e-mails on a  regular basis for important things. Like the waiting time and the speed of the vehicle. The MARCUS Speed Limit, a real-time notifying function that alerts the manager of the product and the user when the vehicle exceed the speed limit when cruising along the expressway.
There are other product that uses GPS in a creative way but all of them serves the same purpose. Which is to make things convenience for others and to suit the lifestyle users are living.

Subject: Introduction of Myself and My Educational Goals and Aims

Dear Brad,

I am Boris Khoo from the telematics class of TLM1010. I am writing this email to introduce myself and to explain to you about my educational background, my interests, my goals for studying Telematics and my aims for the future.

Usually when I introduce myself, people would ask me : "Are you a russian"? "Why do you have russian name as your first name?".  My reply to them is that I don't look like a russian and I am not a  russian. I have a russian name because my parents wanted a unique name for me. Therefore they decided to name me after someone great who's name is Boris Yasin. One of the Russia's president after the cold war ended.

During my free time I would go for a jog around the park, play sports like tennis and dodgeball and also trying out new programming software that is available online. I really enjoy sports as it really bonds people together.

I previously studied electronic and computer engineering in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, specialised in computer mobile technology. That’s where I found my interest in programming.  Since then I have done a lot of programming related to the Android platform.

The reason why I joined the telematics course is to find out more about the current transportation network, driverless cars and how programming could be used in making transportation better. Also I want to find out about what is people’s views on the current transportation. So far I find this course challenging. I was expected to understand the steps to a problem rather than remembering the solution.  I aim to make transportation more user friendly by using my skills that I will be imparted with.

I hope you would get to know me better after reading this short introduction.

Yours sincerely,

Boris Khoo
